Dear John...

After spending all afternoon with my parents (doctor's appointment, lunch, grocery store, Target, the bank, etc), I went with one of my girlfriends to see a great chick flick... Dear John!
It was sooooooo good and believe me ladies, Channing Tatum is sure easy on the eyes. He is so handsome! Amanda Seyfried is pretty too and has the most beautiful hair. Throw in the fact that the movie takes place in Charleston and I am a happy gal. I love Charleston!!!

For those of you who aren't familiar with Nicholas Sparks, he is from my home state, North Carolina. He is the author of another favorite movie of mine, The Notebook. I really enjoy his books and I have read quite a few sitting out on the beach in the summer. Great summer reading for the ladies.

There was not an empty seat in the theater today, so I guess everyone was as eager to see the movie on opening day as I was. The movie review I read online gave the movie a "C", but I really liked it. It was just a wonderful, feel-good, love story.... with a few twists and turns along the way. I don't want to spoil the movie for you. Please go and see it for yourself. You will enjoy it. It was a great way for me to end my day after being in and out of the rain all day. Oh, I forgot to say, we awoke to about 2 to 3 inches of snow, but the snow quickly turned to rain and it has poured all day.

I am planning to hibernate in again this Saturday and get lots done here at home. I had fun baking this morning before going out with my parents and I made a chocolate cake and banana bread. Great comfort food for the weekend!! For those of you who don't know me very well, I LOVE sweets!!!

Here's hoping everyone has a wonderful weekend. I'm sure lots of you will be attending or having Super Bowl parties of your own. Have fun, whatever you do this weekend!!!

  1. I never listen to movie critics. I figure if they didn't like it means I probably will! lol

Thanks for the recommendation on the movie.

  2. the notebook is one of my favorites too! i'd like to read this book before i see this....which will probably be when it comes on tv as i dont see movies a lot. this movies looks really good, i just hope it isn't sad.

  3. I just thought that movie would be just so sad! Maybe I'll go see it . . . not sure. The comfort food sounds yummy - and would go straight to my hips!! I'll be cheering the Colts to victory I hope!! Have a great weekend!! xoxo

  4. Glad you had a little bit of time to relax and do something fun. I have seen the movie previews and it looks good. :-)

  5. His books are always heartwrenching so I have to be in the right frame of mind to read them....I did love the movie version of The Notebook...I may wait for this one on DVD as I can't imagine my husband wanting to see it : )

Are you snowed in? We didn't get a single flake last night but we'll see what happens this morning.

    Enjoy your weekend!

  6. Oh, I can't wait to see that movie. I thought the previews looked great. I'm glad you liked it and recommend it.

  7. I can't wait to see the movie. Nicolas Sparks is one of my favorite authors. Have a great day inside out of the cold.

  8. I've seen the previews on tv and it looks like it's going to be a great movie...but I'm alot like Elizabeth in that I don't go to the movies. I usually end up seeing them once they hit the TV!!

  9. Hi....I just loved the Notebook.

I had to tell you that when you mentioned Taco Soup, my mouth just started watering. Please consider posting the recipe when you have a chance.

It is lovely to meet you.

    Blessings, Barb ♥

  10. Hi M! Sometimes a movie can make all the difference in your day! I'll have to see this one! Glad your snow turned to rain! I was sorry to hear about your Mom's eye problem but hope she continues to do well and regains her vision! I am concerned over my mother's vision also as she can only see well from one eye and had a spot on her good one! She too is independent like your Mom! My best thoughts for a speedy recovery!!! Sorry I haven't visited in a while; must go see what you've been up to! Sincerely, Jeannette

  11. Jason and I love Nicholas Sparks books! While we were dating we read one together {long distance}. So glad to hear that it's a good movie!

  12. Hi sweet friend! I've finally found some "me" time and I'm enjoying visiting my blog friends.

I can't wait to see Dear John. I'm hoping to go tomorrow night. I've heard it's excellent.

Your taco soup recipe is almost exactly like mine. Easy, but oh soooo good.

I'm praying your Mom is healing nicely.

    Big hugs!
