Holiday Decorating!

Hey everyone, I am still here. I have just been so busy getting ready for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I did try to post this past weekend about my Father's trip to the World War II Memorial, but the computer would not let me upload the pictures that I have on the computer of his trip. Every time I tried to load them, it would post "error". After working with it for hours, I finally gave up. I'll try again when I have more time.

I am hosting my family for Thanksgiving this year, but we won't be eating until the Saturday after Thanksgiving, since my niece and her husband have to work the holiday this year. We will be having both of my girls, my son-in-law, Adelaide's boyfriend, my sister and her husband, my parents and my niece and her husband. There will be 12 of us!

I will roast the turkey and fix some of the food. My Mom and sister will bring some things too. That way it is not hard on anybody. Although the food is a wonderful part of Thanksgiving, I especially enjoy our time together. Looking forward to having everyone here for the holiday.

In getting ready to host my family, I decided to get my house decorated for Christmas. I have already started working on getting out my decorations. I brought all my storage bins upstairs last weekend. I have to pack up a lot of the items in my house in order to put out Christams stuff, so I have already begun to do that. My goal is to get everything put out by Sunday night. (Except our real tree).

Adelaide is coming home on Monday and I want to have everything ready and be able to enjoy my time with her while she is home. Plus, for one year, I also want to enjoy December and not have to be doing so much. I want to enjoy the Christmas season this year and not be so frazzled.

My girls and I have ALWAYS loved Christmas!!! We get so excited decorating the house and making things so festive. I collect Santa Clauses and they are everywhere in my house! I put up a real tree and I also have trees in each room of the house. They aren't large trees, but they each have pretty ornaments on them (many of them made by the girls or myself). I have something "Christmasy" in each room of the house (bathrooms included).

So think of me this weekend. I will have the Christmas CD's cranked up and will be spreading a little Christmas cheer throughout my house!!! It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas..........

  2. Smart of you to get started. We go out of town for Thanksgiving, so our tree will have to wait a few more weeks.

    Look forward to some pics!

  6. Good Luck with your decorating. I have one more room to go and I will be done. I really like to do it early so I can have more time to enjoy the season. I too am hosting the Thanksgiving meal at my home. I just love cooking for my family. I also look forward to having all of my children here with my husband and I. Have Fun and don't work too hard!

  7. I can hear the excitement in your words. I normally begin decorating the day after Thanksgiving, but I might do a little bit this weekend before we go out of town for Thanksgiving. I know you're excited about having your girls with you.

  9. I'm going to be away the first weekend in December so we'll be decorating between now and then too. We like to decorate our tree right after Thanksgiving when the girls are home since they like to help. Hubs is off all of next week so we'll get the outside lights up if the weather is nice. Have fun with all your family in town!

  10. I've been having trouble uploading pictures using Chrome on my laptop. For some reason I can use Internet Explorer and the pictures upload.

Hope you and your family have a lovely Thanksgiving.

  11. I'm not a heavy decorator - simply because I have no idea how to do so! I know, sounds mundane but it's true!! I do put up a tree but not a whole lot more!! But I usually do that around the first week of December.

  16. I'm right there with ya, girlfriend.

I've been decorating some all week, and my girlfriend is coming over tomorrow to help me finish up....to carry the bigger trees up the stairs, and she puts up my villages.

I don't have a tree in every room, but I have several: family room (Radko ornaments & others), Tuscan tree in the kitchen, diamonds and pearls in the foyer (all white), shoes and bags upstairs, Beanie Baby trees for my girls,
Sweets tree in craft room, and Georgia Tech tree in media room.

My husband and kids LOVE all the decorations ~ but it will be really strange as one of my daugthers is in East Asia and will not be home...I guess I'll have to show her the trees on SKYPE. Thank God for SKYPE.

Have a blessed Thanksgiving and a delightful time of celebrating with your loved ones. Enjoy your decorations, too!

    Blesings and love from GA,

    Becky

  19. Wow - you really are ambitious! Trees in every room?!? I'm sure it is just gorgeous - but it does sound like a lot of work. Great idea getting started early - just think how less stressful your December will be:) I will certainly be thinking of you this week...as you bring out all those santa:) Have fun!!

  20. I can't wait to see all of your holiday decorations! The best time in blog land, I think! I wanted to thank you so much for agreeing to make room for some of my small crafts. I am happy to send you my Easter Parade chicks as well as very small tuck-ins I have pulled from my shelves. Not much at all, but thank you for having them or passing them on. If you will e-mail me your address at elizabeth.andrus@yahoo.com I will send them out to you. Elizabeth
