One of my blogger friends, Jennifer over at Trading Ashes for Beauty does a post once a week from the Simple Woman's Day book called what's on my mind. I always like the open ended statements and her comments that she posts each week. Jennifer, I am going to borrow your idea and do the same on my post today.
I have let the week get by and have not posted all week. Sorry guys!! It has just been one of those fun, but busy weeks.
I AM THINKING..... of my wonderful family and how fortunate I am to have such a great family. God blessed me with 2 beautiful daughters and a husband that I have known since I was 15 years old. We have shared 34 years of married life together. Lauren, Adelaide and Thomas are here this weekend for Father's Day and we have had so much fun being together. It seems like all we have done is eat! And we have done lots of talking and laughing!
OUTSIDE MY WINDOW...... the sun is shining bright and the temperature is up in the mid 90's. It is HOT!!! But hey, I am not complaining one bit after the cold weather we had this past winter. I am inside with the AC on, so life is good!
I AM WEARING.... a Lilly dress in my favorite color, blue! I wear pants/capris, but I especially love to wear dresses and skirts in the summer. And I love to wear flip flops/sandals. Right now I have on my Jack Rogers.
I AM REMEMBERING.... how special my parents and my sister are and what great times we have had together! I am so fortunate that my parents are still living and we all still enjoy spending time together. My sister lives 2 hours from me and my parents have a second home where she lives in the mountains, so we all get to be together a lot. I wouldn't have it any other way. Family is very important to us and we so enjoy being with each other.
I AM READING.... My Bible. I am waiting on my copy of The Help to arrive and I can't wait to start that. It is supposed to be so good. A great summer read! I also spend a lot of time reading your blogs. Love my blog reading each day!!!!
I AM HOPING... that I will have one more clear CT Scan in December and if so, I will not have to have them anymore and will be released from my oncologist's care. That will be awesome. I just had a CT Scan on Friday of this week and it came back normal. Praise the Lord!! Despite having cancer I am so fortunate to have been blessed by God in so many ways. Each day is a joy and I try to live it to the fullest!
ON MY MIND... I am thinking about how fast the summer is flying by. Adelaide has already been home for 6 weeks from college. The time is going too fast. I am so enjoying my time with her at home and do not want it to go so fast. She just completed an internship at Brenner's Children's Hospital and will start her summer Nanny job on Monday. She wants to be a Child Life Specialist and work with children who are terminally ill or have had surgery/trauma in their lives. She will be so good at that!!! I know that she blessed many children while she was there this summer. I can't believe that Adelaide will be a senior in college this year.
FROM THE KITCHEN.... We have been eating out all weekend, but on Sunday morning, we plan to fix a big breakfast for Father's Day. Friday night we ate at a wonderful restaurant downtown and then walked to a yummy cheesecake place and sat outside and ate our cheesecake and listened to jazz music. For lunch today, we ate at our favorite deli and tonight we are going to our favorite Italian restaurant and Thomas' parents are going to join us. In case you haven't noticed, this family LOVES to eat. And I do love to cook, but this weekend, we just wanted to be together and do other things besides be in the kitchen all weekend.
AROUND THE HOUSE..... things are in a mess!!! We are painting our whole upstairs, getting ready to put in new carpet and changing rooms around. What fun!!! In the process, I am cleaning out, throwing away and trying to get re-organized. So things are a wreck right now, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel, thank goodness!
PLANS FOR THE WEEK..... Thursday night is the last beach music for the season. But it will be a great one, because Chairmen of the Board are going to play. It has been so much fun going each week!!! I love beach music, although I never did learn how to Shag. I will be working this week from Monday through Thursday. I am also refinishing an old bedroom suite for Adelaide that I had as a child. I hope I can get it finished this week. I have enjoyed working on it.
ONE OF MY FAVORITE THINGS..... are hydrangeas! I love this color blue!!! I would love to have a whole yard full of hydrangeas and be able to pick a bouquet whenever I wanted one. This bush is on the side of my house. So pretty!!!
Have a nice Father's Day weekend!
Love & blessings,
Melinda
