Hey gals, I am lost without my digital camera!!! On the last day of my trip to the mountains my camera just died!!! I was so upset, because I take my camera with me EVERYWHERE!!! I went to get a picture of my sister and me as we were leaving and the camera was totally dead. I tried new batteries and that did not work.
We came home that Saturday and went right to a wedding. I hate that I did not have my camera for the wedding. On Sunday I was busy getting ready to leave for a girl's getaway trip to Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia and did not have a chance to get another camera. I really would not have wanted to make such a rushed decision anyway. So, needless to say, I went to the lake without a camera. I was sick about that.
The gal's cabin that we stay in there is so awesome and the scenery so beautiful, that I wanted to take pictures to share with you all. That was not the case, since I don't have a camera now. Some of the other ladies had their cameras, so maybe I can get some of their pictures.
We had the best time riding the jet ski. It held 4 people!! We also went canoeing on the lake and the most fun was just lounging in the float-type chairs in the water. We played games at night out on the deck overlooking the water, we ate lots of good food, laughed until it hurt, TALKED,TALKED & TALKED and just had a wonderful time being together as girlfriends.
I have been with this group of ladies for a long time and we have shared lots of joy and sorrow with each other. There are 6 of us. We have been wonderful prayer warriors for each other!!! It was a great time away and we hated to come home last night. Now it is back to reality!! Laundry, housework, etc.
I am going to be looking around now for a simple, but good, digital camera. I am not real technologically minded, so I have to have something that is not too difficult to use. My daughter has a little Canon camera that she loves.
Do any of you have suggestions for a camera that you have purchased that you especially love or one that you have gotten that you don't like? I would be interested to hear some suggestions.
My other camera I had was an HP, but the screen was too small. I will be glad to have a camera with a much larger screen that will be easier to see. My old camera used batteries and I am thinking that I might like a camera that has a charging station (or whatever you call it) instead of using batteries. Any suggestions there too?
In the meantime I am without a camera. I will look forward to hearing from you all. I don't want to spend a fortune for a camera. I just want to have a good basic camera to use for my picture taking and blogging. Thanks and have a great day ladies!
Five for Friday on Saturday

One of my favorite blog/twitter friends, One Fabulous Mom, tagged me on her Five
for Friday post. She shared five things that she is loving right now. Here ...

Glad you had a fantastic time! I have a Sony Cybershot and it takes pretty good pictures and is less than $200...maybe even cheaper. I don't know how much it was since my dad bought it for me about 3 years ago. I have liked it and the battery is rechargable. You should look into them!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you've been having so much fun. I have a Canon Power Shot A590 and I love it. It's easy to use and takes great pictures. It takes batteries, but I prefer that. I always carry extra ones in my purse, so it can never go dead on me. Unless of course, it really dies like yours did. Glad you're home safe and sound. Sorry you have the regular everyday stuff to get back to. It's so fun to get away from that stuff.
ReplyDeleteI have a Canon PowershotSD 750 Elph and love it!
ReplyDeleteI just have a nikkon coolpix and i love it. only cost about $149.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you gals had such a fun time together. It sounds like so much fun.
ReplyDeleteIt's such a blessing to have such good friends.
I do hope you can get some pictures from them to share. I'd love to see them.
My husband got my digital camera for me a couple of years ago for Christmas. I tell him all the time it's the best gift he's ever gotten me. (he said...."Better than the pearl necklace & earrings?!!) Well....those are very special, but this camera has opened up a whole new world for me.
It's a Sony Cyber-shot. It has a rechargeable battery and I love that feature. No batteries to worry about.
The picture doesn't show up large though when viewing. I also don't have as good of a zoom as I'd like at times, but it's what I use on all my blog pics. It's perfect for me and what I use it for.
We will be leaving Calif. here in a few hours, flying back to Oklahoma. We have had a wonderful time and a great anniversary!
Love,
Valerie
Hi Melinda! Sorry about your camera but glad you had such a good time with all your trips! I can't recommend a camera; I do have a Kodak Easy Share which is easy enough to use but I think the screen is a little small too! Mine was acting up also until I discovered I put one battery in backwards!!!! Duh! I really thought I had it right too; hubby just looked? Good luck with whatever you find!!! Have a fun weekend - Sincerely, Jeannette
ReplyDeleteYour trip sounds like a lot of fun!! I understand your disappoint without your camera...I forgot mine when I went to Texas!! So frustrating! But, goodness, you still make Smith Mountain Lake sound like a great trip! I just might do that....
ReplyDeleteMy sweet little Lorelai broke my camera so I was without for a few weeks also. Relying on the camera phone was the pits. I stopped in Best Buy last week and got a Canon Powershot A1000IS. It wasn't terribly expensive and so far so good.
ReplyDeleteIf you're interested in a Canon Rebel XT (Digital SLR) I may be selling mine!
ReplyDeleteI came upon your blog from another blog. I too am almost an emptynester. My 22 yr old son had to move back home.
ReplyDeleteIt was suggested to me by a coworker,by her photographer friend, that Nikons are excellent camera's. I was given one for Christmas,a point and shoot. The colors are vivid, its easy to figure out. I dont know what you had before, but good luck in finding a camera.
I too, love the Lord!
This has nothing to do with a new camera but I thought of you when I was up in the NC mountains this past weekend. We were in Burnsville about an hour from Asheville and it was beautiful!

ReplyDeleteYour trip to Smith Mountain Lake sounds wonderful. I have never been there but have heard how beautiful it is from friends that have been. I live in the Piedmont section of NC. I have a Canon, Power Shot SD700 IS, which I ordered from Amazon. I love it and got it at a good price.
ReplyDeleteHi Melinda! I'm an empty-nester too, and also a former 3 and 4-year old preschool teacher....and LOVE anything blue! I have a sony cybershot with rechargable battery and love it!
ReplyDeleteAny luck with the new camera??
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear from you this morning - and thanks for being a follower! Yippee (makes me feel so special)....sorry my post for today wasn't up - I accidentally had it scheduled for PM?!?!? Stop back by and get a glimpse of my buddy, Tyler! :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
Found you by way of Jennifer. I am an Empty Nester too. As for the camera my husband gave me a Canon Powershot SD790IS. My son who is the camera person has a Canon(much more advanced than mine) It takes great pictures even when you don't know what you are doing. It would take much better pictures if I would figure out what I was doing. He can take a photo with mine in about 30 seconds that is a million times better than when I spend a lot of time trying to get a good shot. Jackie
ReplyDeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteFound your blog, and discovered that you are an empty nester, too. Doesn't take long, does it?!
Sounds like you had a grand time inspite of not having your camera. How frustrating!
Stop by Rose Cottage for some views of what my little Olympus camera does. It is taking some great shots of my dream trip to France.
Best,
Debbykay at Rose Cottage Gardens and Farm
I would love to get together. We're actually coming up next weekend but our schedule is packed because we're moving Legare into his new apartment. The next time we're up, I'll let you know and I'll send the boys out on their own and we'll have a blogger lunch. That would be wonderful. You have to promise to do the same if you're back in the Charleston area. It would be kind of fun to put out an "all call" to bloggers in each area to see who wanted to meet. I was just thinking this afternoon about how much I'd love to meet some of my blog friends in person! GOOD IDEA!
ReplyDeletethanks for stopping by... I've "seen" you around. I believe we have the same bloggy friends... Semi-Slacker, perhaps?!
ReplyDeleteAnyhow, I am going to second both the elph (canon) and powershot (also canon).
If you find yourself ready to upgrade to the digital SLR I will highly recommend it. I have a Rebel and it takes the most amazing pictures! Whatever you do decide, be sure to test out the camera to see that you are comfortable with it and that you like the results.
I too am lost without my camera... it's devastating!
Sorry about your camera!! I have an HP and it's okay, but I've never been a "picture taker" so even now, I'm not good at remembering my camera....
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you had such a great time with your friends! I've never done anything like that and it sounds like y'all had a great time together, just enjoying each other's company!
~Beth
Just stumbled upon your blog.. But I love my Canon
ReplyDeleteI actually found your blog and then your daughters.. Savannah is GREAT and a BEAUTIFUL place to live! Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteI am lost without my cell phone and my little camera. I take it in my purse everywhere I go. You never know when you will need a "blog" picture!
ReplyDeleteI have a Canon Powershot. It has a charger and I would never deal with extra batteries ever! Just charge it up at night like you do your cell phone....easy!
Oh I read this post and the comments with great interest. I too am in need of a new camera.
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to say "HI". Life has been CRAZY busy for me, so my blogging time lately has been rare to say the least (and I see no end in sight for the next week or two), but I've had fun reading all yours posts I've missed since my last visit.
ReplyDeleteNo camera?! Yikes, I would be absolutely lost without mine. I carry it everywhere too. I love mine. It's a Canon Powershot Elph SD1100 IS.
Hugs!
Kat

I'm sorry to hear about your camera. I've heard that the Canon Powershot is amazing. Glad you had a good time! :)
ReplyDeleteHello from NC,
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by my blog. I am glad you enjoyed your visit. Thank you for you kind coment on my blog.I hope you will come again.
So I hopped right over here and I like what I read on your blog, too.
Good friends are a blessing from God and can't be bought, therefore they are a treasure.
Sorry about your camera ,I too own a Canon but it has batteries, sad to say, which need charging every time I turn around. So if you can find one like you described, ( I didn't know they had those )It would save you in the long run and I bet last a lot longer between charges.
Have a blessed afternnon.Elsie from SW VA.

I also have a Canon - mine is a PowerShotSX100IS. The thing that I absolutely insisted on when I needed a new camera is the a good zoom lens, and this one has a 10X optical zoom, which is wonderful! It isn't a Single Lens Reflex, but it seems to do everything I need. I love it!
ReplyDeleteHugs from Michigan - Diane
P.S. - It also uses double A batteries, and I use the rechargeable kind, and use them nearly forever! And with using double A, if mine ever run out of steam, I can find these batteries anywhere!
